BCG Continues to Expand Its Private Equity Practice, Hiring Former C-Suite Executive

The Firms Growing PIPE Practice Adds Deborah Ellinger as New Senior Advisor

NEW YORK, Oct. 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) announced today that Deborah Ellinger has joined the firm as a senior advisor in its Principal Investors & Private Equity (PIPE) practice. As a former Fortune 100 C-suite executive, she has proven to be successful in growing sales; driving revenue; and building shareholder value across a wide variety of companies.

For the past seven years, Ellinger, who is based in Boston, has served as the lead independent director of iRobot, an advanced technology company responsible for the creation of the Roomba vacuum. During the previous 14 years, Ellinger was president or CEO of four private-equity-backed companies: Ideal Image, the largest US chain of medical spas, with 130 locations in the US and Canada; the Princeton Review, an international test preparation and tutoring company, with 5,000 teachers and tutors worldwide; Restoration Hardware, a retailer of home products and furnishings, with revenues exceeding $2 billion; and Wellness Pet Food, an all-natural pet food company that sells to more than 10,000 stores in the US and Canada.

Earlier in her career, Ellinger held senior positions in several prominent US companies. She was an executive vice president at CVS Pharmacy, where she was responsible for strategy and business development and led CVS.com. She was also a partner at BCG, where she was a member of the firm’s Financial Services, Consumer Goods, and Retail practices.

Ellinger is the president of Ellinger Enterprises, which provides consulting and due diligence support to private equity firms and invests as a principal in consumer technology and retail companies.

David Bronstein, the leader of the PIPE practice for the Americas, said, “Deborah’s time as a CEO and as a technology expert is a unique point of view for clients in the private equity and investing space. Her expertise will add to our robust roster of PIPE experts, and we are thrilled to have her onboard.”

Ellinger sits on the board of The Commonwealth Institute, a nonprofit focused on women’s leadership development. She earned degrees in mathematics and law from University of Cambridge, England, and she was an officer cadet in the British Army in the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
