A Boost for Arts and Culture in Southeastern New Brunswick

Government of Canada supports six arts and culture organizations


GREATER MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK--(Marketwired - Oct. 15, 2014) - Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe), today announced funding totalling $78,400 to be delivered over the next three years (2014-2017) to six organizations in southeastern New Brunswick. He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Six projects will be carried out with the funding allocated under the Canada Arts Presentation Fund and the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program. These projects will offer residents and visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends and discover Acadian, Francophone, Scottish and Asian arts, culture and history.

The recipient organizations are the Société historique de la mer rouge, the Galerie Sans Nom, the Centre des arts et de la culture de Dieppe, the Carnaval d'amitié d'hiver de Dieppe, the Greater Moncton Scottish Association, and the Greater Moncton Asian Heritage Association.   • The RE:FLUX Music and Sound Art Festival, a Galerie Sans Nom event featuring research, improvisation and experimentation, is scheduled for May 21 to 28, 2015, and May 19 to 26, 2016.
  • The Société historique de la mer rouge will present its summer program called Été musical de l'église historique de Barachois in 2015 and in 2016. The line-up will feature professional artists from the Atlantic Provinces, Quebec, Alberta, Italy and the United States.
  • For the 2015-2016 season, the Centre des arts et de la culture de Dieppe has scheduled a series of six popular, folk, jazz and classical music concerts, along with a musical theatre performance for children.
  • The 39th annual Carnaval d'amitié d'hiver de Dieppe, from January 30 to February 1, 2015, will feature a variety of activities, including workshops, storytelling, musical performances by local artists, and a guided tour of the town of Dieppe's heritage sites.
  • The 9th annual Moncton Highland Games & Scottish Festival, from June 15 to 22, 2015, will present traditional Scottish music, competitions and demonstrations by local artisans and local heritage performers.
  • From May 4 to 30, 2015, the Greater Moncton Asian Heritage Festival will showcase traditional dance, art workshops, and musical and drumming performances by a variety of cultural groups, along with an exhibit of traditional and modern Asian clothing.
