American Family Housing and Soroptimist International of Westminster Host Annual Mother's Day Ladies Tea and Day of Beauty

Southern California Nonprofit Partners With Westminster Women's Group to Celebrate and Support Women, Mothers and Daughters Facing the Challenges of Homelessness

MIDWAY CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 11, 2016) - American Family Housing (AFH) -- a nonprofit organization that provides a continuum of housing and a broad spectrum of services to vulnerable populations -- will co-host with Soroptimist International of Westminster its annual Mother's Day Ladies Tea and Day of Beauty on April 23, 2016 to honor -- and pamper -- AFH beneficiaries who are experiencing homelessness and economic challenges.

"We are delighted to partner with Soroptimist International of Westminster to bring this special event to the women and mothers in our program who are working so hard toward their goals to become self-sufficient again," says Donna Gallup, AFH CEO and president. "They truly deserve a respite from the hardships of their daily lives and we are proud to be able to provide such a heartfelt and memorable way for all of us to come together as mothers, sisters and daughters to celebrate and support one another."

The Mother's Day event, which has been a cornerstone of AFH community services for more than ten years, is expected to host some 60 women who will receive haircuts and style updates before sitting down to a traditional high tea, where an array of herbal teas, cakes, scones, delectable finger sandwiches and fresh skewered fruits will be served on fine china atop tables dressed with white linens and accentuated by fragrant floral arrangements.

"We are proud to be part of this unique and beautiful event," says Soroptimist International-Westminster president, Anaheim Sporn, whose organization works to advance human rights and the status of women and girls both on a local and global level. "The work of AFH is invaluable and we are excited for this opportunity to work alongside them to show these women just how much we care and how valuable their lives are to us, their families, their friends and this community."

A leader forging key strategic partnerships in Southern California and beyond, AFH is fast becoming known as a deeply compassionate and highly effective organization changing the face of homelessness in the tri-county region of the Golden State.

"Homelessness is a predicament no longer confined to the stereotypes -- drug abusers, alcoholics and the mentally ill," adds Gallup. "The tenuous rope we walk in today's challenging world is but a fine line and even for those of us who are certain a securely fastened safety net is there to catch us if we fall, a sudden injury or unexpected life event can knock us to the hard, cold ground. The only way we can get back up again and thrive is by standing together."
