AQUARIUS WebPortal 2015.1 Delivers Highly Configurable Security to Make Water Data Available Online via Intranets, Public Portals & Mobile Devices

More Customizable Security and Online Access Privileges Ensure the Right Information Gets to the Right People at the Right Time

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - July 20, 2015) - Aquatic Informatics Inc., a global leader in providing innovative software for water data management and analysis, today announced release 2015.1 of AQUARIUS WebPortal -- a simple and elegant solution for offering real-time online access to quality assured environmental data and services, including rich statistics, intuitive maps, email alerts, data exporting, and live reports. Version 2015.1 features highly configurable security settings, providing administrators more flexibility in making the right data and features accessible to the right stakeholders in real-time.

Configured as a public portal, AQUARIUS WebPortal allows monitoring agencies to provide citizens with internet access to a variety of timely environmental data and services, including drinking water quality, flood warning information, watershed health statistics, rainfall data, or air quality indicators. Organizations can also use AQUARIUS WebPortal as a secure intranet to share data with staff, departments, consulting firms, or cooperating agencies -- improving collaboration and productivity.

"Since purchasing AQUARIUS Time-Series in 2008, we have dramatically increased the accuracy and quality of our stream gaging network State wide. By also employing AQUARIUS WebPortal to serve up near real-time data to our field staff as well as the public, fact-based decisions can be made on the fly with confidence," said Loren Smith, Superintendent of Water Division III, Wyoming State Engineer’s Office. "With over 400 gaging sites collecting data in all corners of Wyoming, the time savings in records reduction has been well worth the investment. Field staff must reduce the collected data to publishable form and by employing the AQUARIUS software we have realized about a 50% time savings across the board, freeing up valuable limited staff time for other important work. All records are collected and reduced to USGS standards now, which has also contributed to a much more reliable data set."

"Environmental consulting and engineering firms also gain time savings and increase data accuracy by centrally managing all water data for clients on AQUARIUS Time-Series. By employing AQUARIUS WebPortal 2015.1, they can give each client secure access to real-time data from their own gauging networks," said Chris Misson, Product Manager at Aquatic Informatics Australia. "Reports no longer need to be sent periodically. Clients gain immediate online access to their environmental information, alerts, historical data, and on-demand reports. Email and SMS alerts support timely, decisive action. The result is superior customer service and collaboration."

AQUARIUS WebPortal 2015.1 Highlights

Enhanced Security Configuration. Through the use of Roles, View Groups, and Folder Permissions, AQUARIUS WebPortal now offers a high degree of flexibility in both user security and personalization. Folder Permissions allow access restriction to data from selected groups of locations. View Groups enable tailoring of configuration settings and defaults to suit particular groups of users.

Information Requests for Up-to-Date Information via Email or SMS. AQUARIUS WebPortal can now be configured to provide plain text responses to simple email or SMS requests from authorized persons. Using the new integrated scripting environment, administrators can define exactly what information is extracted and how it is formatted in response to incoming requests. For example, a general "situation report" can be issued whenever the command "sitrep" is received -- this report can be configured to include significant river and rainfall statistics for the last few hours as well as details of any alerts currently active.

Time-Series State Calculation & Alerting. As well as defining States based on parameter ranges (e.g. Minor, Moderate, or Major flooding levels), AQUARIUS WebPortal can now perform more sophisticated time series state calculations through the use of the new integrated scripting environment. For example, users can now:

  • Define a "Data Currency" state for each time-series based on the age of the last measurement and set state values of "Current," "Overdue," or "No Data";
  • Define a "Trend" state based on last few measurements and set state values of "Falling," "Steady," "Rising," or "No Data."

The ability to trigger alerts based on State values has also been added in this release.
