AutoGrid Systems Appoints Utility Industry Leader Jeffrey Norman as Vice President of Industry Solutions

Norman Brings Over 25 Years of Experience in Implementing State-of-the-Art Grid Modernization Technologies for Electric Utilities

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 4, 2016) -  AutoGrid Systems, the Energy Internet leader, announced today that Jeffrey Norman has been appointed Vice President of Industry Solutions.

In this role, Norman will be responsible for working with AutoGrid's strategic customers and partners across the energy industry to help them adopt AutoGrid's Energy Internet Platform and its associated suite of applications, which are designed to predict, optimize and control the millions of distributed energy resources (DERs) being deployed at the grid edge.

Norman brings to AutoGrid over 25 years of experience working with some of the most progressive utilities in the world to integrate innovative technologies into their operations. Most recently, Norman was the Vice President of Emerging Technologies at Leidos Engineering (formerly SAIC) where he led the practice that supported utilities' grid modernization initiatives, deploying technologies to enhance reliability, empower customers, enable renewables and ensure cyber security. Prior to Leidos, Jeff was an engagement manager with CapGemini North America's Smart Energy Services group.

"Working with several of my utility clients, I have closely observed the need for intelligent and scalable software optimization capabilities for managing DER flexibility at the grid edge -- a rapidly-growing category in which AutoGrid has established a commanding leadership position," said Norman. "I look forward to working with our customers and partners to accelerate the industry's transition into the new energy world -- a world enabled by advances in predictive intelligence, big data, and machine learning technologies that AutoGrid is pioneering in our industry."

AutoGrid's integrated suite of Energy Internet software applications enables utilities and energy service providers to build next-generation renewable-friendly energy networks by managing and optimizing DERs in real-time while engaging customers, enhancing reliability and reducing operating expenses. AutoGrid's flagship application, AutoGrid Flex, is the energy industry's first truly integrated flexibility management application, designed to optimize across all DER asset categories including distributed generation, battery storage, and demand response resources. AutoGrid Flex provides out-of-the-box support for all prevalent grid services and wholesale market programs spanning all customer segments -- residential, commercial and industrial.

With AutoGrid Flex:

  • Regulated utilities can integrate renewables and customer-owned demand response and DERs while improving the reliability of their transmission and distribution operations.
  • Deregulated energy companies such as retail electricity providers, aggregators and project developers can rapidly roll out new offerings, increase customer retention, and monetize customer-owned DER assets such as battery storage and combined heat and power (CHP) units in energy markets.

"We are thrilled to welcome someone with Jeffrey's track record to our team," said Dr. Amit Narayan, CEO of AutoGrid. "His deep experience helping utilities use cutting-edge technologies to improve operations will be instrumental in helping our customers leverage our Energy Internet applications to their fullest potential".
