BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - May 9, 2013) - Iván Martén, global leader of The Boston Consulting Group's Energy practice, has been named one of the "Top 25" most influential consultants of 2013 by Consulting magazine, the industry's leading trade publication. Martén won in the "Excellence in Energy" category.
"We were incredibly impressed with the 400 or so nominations we received this year," said Joe Kornik, Consulting editor and publisher, in announcing the winners. "Each year, the Top 25 nominations get stronger, and this year was no different. In fact, we had a lot more client nominations than we normally do, which is fantastic."
In its profile of him in the May 2013 issue, Consulting says: "Martén has advised CEOs and top management teams at leading companies as well as governments and regulatory agencies. His work has spanned nearly all sectors of the energy industry on issues ranging from strategy and organization to regulation and sustainable development. He focuses on helping leaders define and execute large-scale change programs and enabling their organizations."
Martén is a 25-year veteran of the energy and environment industry. Before becoming global leader of BCG's Energy practice in 2008, he led the practice in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for four years.
Under his leadership, the firm's Energy practice has been transformed from a mainly European practice focused on utilities to a truly global one with a well-balanced portfolio of oil, power, gas, and green-energy clients. Energy has been the fastest-growing practice at BCG over the past three years.
Beyond being a strong leader, Martén is a recognized authority on energy and environment issues. Recently, he was invited to become one of "The Experts," an exclusive group of industry and thought leaders who engage in in-depth online discussions of topics from The Wall Street Journal's special reports on energy. The author of a book on strategic planning and numerous articles on energy and organization issues, he frequently speaks at forums such as the World Petroleum Council, the World Future Energy Summit, Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School, London Business School, ESADE, and the Centre for National Defence Studies (CESEDEN).
"The 21st century is going to be the century of the energy and natural resources revolution," Martén told Consulting. "I'm excited to be part of it and to help society address issues that are so important to people across the globe."
He added: "It's very rewarding to see how the companies we work with have transformed themselves and how we have been able to enable their organizations, streamlining their processes and decision making."
Consulting will be honoring the Top 25 at a gala awards dinner June 20 at the JW Marriott Essex House in midtown Manhattan.
