Brandman University's School of Extended Education Recognizes National Hospital and Health-System Pharmacy Week

The School of Extended Education Offers Certificate Program for These In-Demand Professionals

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 21, 2013) - Brandman University's School of Extended Education, the entrepreneurial division of Brandman University, is recognizing National Hospital and Health-System Pharmacy Week, Oct. 20-26, 2013. The observance, led by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, celebrates the many new and vital roles pharmacists play in patient care.

"Pharmacists play a critical role in preventing medication errors, advising prescribers on the best drug choices, and working directly with patients to ensure they understand how to use their medications safely and effectively," says Debbie Moysychyn, director at the School of Extended Education. "Now is a perfect time to recognize these professionals, and the people who support them."

To meet industry demands, the School of Extended Education offers a Pharmacy Technician training course as part of its growing Allied Health Program. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts 32% job growth for pharmacy technicians through 2018.

Brandman's Pharmacy Technician training educates students to work in all types of pharmacies, including a commercial pharmacy, hospitals, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities. Classroom work is combined with an externship to provide students with practical, hands-on experience. The training program meets eligibility requirements set by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Certified Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination (PTCE) delivered through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Interested participants can register on the Brandman website.
