TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 7, 2014) - Cineplex Entertainment ("Cineplex") (TSX:CGX) today announced it has reached an agreement with Longueuil, Quebec-based D-BOX Technologies (TSX:DBO) to add D-BOX motion seats to select auditoriums in 20 additional theatre locations.
Cineplex will also install additional D-BOX seats in auditoriums in five theatres already offering the D-BOX experience.
D-BOX MFX Motion Seats are a premium movie-going experience and one of the hottest technologies in cinema today, providing a multi-sensory enhancement to the action on the big screen. Many of today's action-filled movies are specially coded to command D-BOX seats to move in concert with the action on the big screen.
"D-BOX motion seats have been overwhelmingly popular with our guests," said Ellis Jacob, President and CEO, Cineplex Entertainment. "We look forward to bringing the D-BOX experience to additional locations across the country - and giving even more Canadians the opportunity to enjoy one of the most immersive experiences in cinema today."
"We are pleased to expand our relationship with Cineplex, Canada's leading theatre exhibitor and one of North America's top theatre operators," said Claude McMaster, President and CEO, D-BOX Technologies Inc. "Today's announcement is further evidence of D-BOX's strong popularity with movie-goers, and also of our continued success partnering with leading theatre exhibitors."
Four of the additional 20 D-BOX locations are expected to open this year. They include Scotiabank Theatre Toronto, Cineplex Cinemas Scarborough; SilverCity Ancaster Cinemas and SilverCity Richmond Hill Cinemas. A list of existing D-BOX locations is available at Cineplex.com.
