Iron.io Delivers on Promise of Enabling Lambda-Like Functionality on Any Cloud

Company Now Brings Multicloud Serverless Processing to OpenStack, Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Mesosphere; Demos Available

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 27, 2016) - Iron.io, a leading provider of workload management, today announced it is delivering on its promise of bringing AWS Lambda-like serverless processing to any cloud -- with implementations now enabled on OpenStack, Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, OpenShift and Mesosphere. Demos are available upon request.

Serverless computing has gained momentum because it boosts agility for modern enterprises, allowing them to build and deploy applications and services at scale on flexible platforms that abstract away physical infrastructure. Launched in beta as Project Kratos in February, Iron.io announced general availability of its multicloud solution in April. Since then, the company has systematically partnered with leading cloud providers to support multicloud development.

To date, the promise of serverless multicloud has been elusive. Although developers can use AWS Lambda for a serverless experience on Amazon Web Services, enterprises want to be able to offer their developers similar functionality on any cloud -- public, private, hybrid or on-premise. By taking a multicloud approach, enterprises can address concerns about vendor lock-in, as well as regulatory requirements and corporate protocols that dictate certain data stay behind a firewall. In addition, by building a private cloud with Lambda-like functionality, corporate DevOps can reclaim control of their organization's development environment, while still enabling developers to have a serverless experience.

"Until now, there has been no easy way to have a Lambda-like experience on non-Amazon clouds," said Chad Arimura, Iron.io CEO and co-founder. "We've changed that. With Iron.io, enterprises can now offer their developers Lambda-like functionality with the flexibility to deploy workloads on any cloud -- public, private, hybrid or on-premise."

In April, Iron.io announced its partnership with Mirantis, the pure-play OpenStack® company, to bring event-driven, serverless functionality to the OpenStack community. The joint solution enables enterprise developers using OpenStack to deliver applications and services faster through the serverless experience provided by Iron.io.

In May, Iron.io announced its collaboration with Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the industry-standard multi-cloud platform, to integrate the Iron.io API with the Cloud Foundry platform.

In June, Iron.io brought the serverless experience to Red Hat OpenShift -- a pairing that provided users with an end-to-end environment for building and deploying applications at scale, without the headaches of complex operations.

And in August, Iron.io announced its strategic partnership with Mesosphere, enabling microservices and serverless computing for modern data centers. Joint customers using Mesosphere's Data Center Operating System (DC/OS) with Iron.io could experience enhanced flexibility to develop their hybrid cloud strategy and run distributed job processing across heterogeneous environments.
