DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - Oct 14, 2014) - A recent study by J. D. Power and Associates has found that Ambit Energy, an electric and natural gas provider, receives consistently high marks in customer satisfaction. The study, based on a survey of energy consumers in nine different states, collected data for almost a year. From September 2013 to June 2014, J. D. Power and Associates collected information from 25,757 customers for their 2014 Retail Electric Provider Residential Customer Satisfaction Study. The results found that the Ambit Energy reviews were consistently at the top of the ranks. The company, based in Dallas, Texas, was ranked "Highest in Residential Customer Satisfaction among Retail Electric Providers in Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania." In Illinois, New York, and Pennsylvania, while not at the top of the list, Ambit Energy's reviews were still on the rise, ranking well above average and staying competitive with the top names.
The J. D. Power and Associates study ranked energy providers on a scale from 0 to 1000, based on the responses they received from consumers. Texas was the state with the overall highest consumer satisfaction rating regarding their retail electricity providers. The overall satisfaction rating in Texas was 706, up 24 points from last year's ranking of 682. The average non-Texas rating was 626, up 20 points from last year's 606 ranking. Ambit Energy had a total average ranking of 690, soundly beating the non-Texas average of 626. And within their home state of Texas, Ambit Energy's satisfaction rating was 725, well over the 706 Texas average. Every state Ambit operates in ranked them as providing services well above the state average.
In Pennsylvania, the consumer surveys found that Ambit Energy performed particularly well in communication with its customers. In New Jersey and Connecticut, they ranked highly not only in communication, but also in the pricing of their energy plans and in the feeling of corporate citizenship provided to consumers. New Jersey also ranked them as a standout in the customer service factor, while Connecticut gave Ambit Energy top marks in the enrollment and renewal categories of their plans. Overall, Ambit was shown to have excellent marks in a wide variety of consumer satisfaction categories - with customer communication being their highest focus, but pricing and a feeling of community being standouts as well.
Ambit Energy's success is all the more impressive considering its relative youth as a company. It was formed in Addison, Texas in 2006 by Jere Thompson, Jr. and Chris Chambless. In its eight years of operation, the company has spread to provide retail electrical services not only in Texas, but also in twelve other states. Ambit Energy operates in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia. Their consumer-oriented business model - with a vast network of independent consultants, has facilitated its expansion and the commensurate rise in consumer satisfaction. The J. D. Power and Associates 2014 Retail Electric Provider Residential Customer Satisfaction Study shows that those efforts are paying off, and will likely continue to do so in the future.
