Junior Achievement Selects the Desire2Learn Integrated Learning Platform for Blended Learning Initiative

KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 24, 2014) - Desire2Learn (D2L), the EdTech company that created the world's first truly integrated learning platform (ILP), today announced that it is partnering with Junior Achievement USA® (JA) to deliver blended learning to JA students in the United States. The Desire2Learn ILP will be the foundation of the new JA Education Gateway, the organization's first digital footprint in the classroom.

The JA Education Gateway will launch this July at the organization's annual conference and will initially be rolled out to 10,000 students. Eventually, the gateway will host a large percentage of JA's curriculum, with the potential to reach millions of students across the U.S. It will also be available to remote volunteers and instructors teaching their programs in-class.

"We chose D2L because of its capacity, flexibility and superior blended learning capabilities," said Jack Kosakowski, CEO of Junior Achievement USA. "We look forward to working closely with D2L as we help empower young people to own their economic success through this mix of volunteer-led classroom experiences and leading edge educational technology."

"I am delighted and proud to support one of my personal lifetime partners in its pursuit of improving learning outcomes," said John Baker, D2L President and CEO. "The shift to blended learning is important for Junior Achievement, as it has the potential to scale the organization's reach quickly and significantly. Using our ILP, instructors will be able to deploy a wider variety of teaching techniques and increase access to curriculum that will better engage students on critical concepts and lessons."
