KnowRe Raises $6.8 Million Investment Round to Expand Innovative Online Adaptive Learning Program for Math

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 22, 2014) - KnowRe (www.knowre.com), the award-winning education technology company with a cloud-based adaptive learning program for secondary mathematics, announces a new $6.8 million fundraise. The investment round was led by existing investor SoftBank Ventures Korea ("SBVK") and included participation from KTB Network Co., LTD, Partners Investment, SparkLabs Global Ventures and other new investors.

KnowRe officially launched in March 2014 after a year-long beta period in which the company hosted a successful pilot program involving dozens of middle and high schools across the US. "This fundraise allows us to scale our distribution in the US on the heels of strong demand from schools and districts since our launch, and further our product development and offerings for the US, Korea, and broader Asian markets," said David Joo, Co-founder and Co-CEO of KnowRe.

"Gaining the support and validation of such well-respected partners is a proud achievement for KnowRe," added YJ Kim, also Co-founder and Co-CEO of KnowRe. "The investment enables us to broaden our mission of personalizing education for each individual student while providing teachers and schools with the data and tools to help deliver differentiated instruction to all of their students."

KnowRe was developed by a team of math educators and technologists focused on personalizing learning for each of their students. KnowRe's co-founders realized that technology could be integrated into education in a unique way to assess a student's individual strengths and weaknesses and then to algorithmically deliver an adaptive and personalized curriculum to fill those learning needs.

Sean Lee, Executive Director at SBVK commented, "We initially invested in KnowRe because we were impressed with the vision, technology, and capabilities of the KnowRe team. Since then, KnowRe has continued to demonstrate their ability to execute on their vision and we are excited about their plans to grow in the US and Asia."

In May 2013, KnowRe was named First Place Winner and "Best Instructional App" by the New York City Department of Education in the Gap App Challenge and was most recently selected as Semi-Finalist in the Robin Hood College Success Prize; finalists to be announced in early 2015.
