MARINA DEL REY, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 13, 2014) - Marina Del Rey Hospital, a 145-bed acute care surgical hospital in the Greater Los Angeles area, today announced it has finalized a contract with the California Nurses Association (CNA). The union agreement is part of the hospital's continued focus on enhancing employee relations and bettering patient care. The new contract allows for the implementation of wage increases and retention bonuses for the nurses employed at the hospital, effective as of March 2, 2014. It also enables the hospital to offer additional training programs and other continuing education opportunities for the nursing staff.
"Finalizing this contract demonstrates Marina Del Rey Hospital's dedication to its valued employees who work so hard to care for our patients each day," said the hospital's Chief Nursing Officer Paulette Heitmeyer. "The new wage and benefit package demonstrates the contributions of our nursing staff and supports the long-term viability of the hospital."
The CNA contract follows the hospital's agreement with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which was finalized in November 2013. Establishing these union contracts is a continuation in the many steps the hospital is taking to move forward as a nationally recognized center of surgical excellence and a local provider of 24/7 emergency care.
In recent years, the hospital has made significant enhancements and growth across all of its areas of excellence, including its Marina Spine Center, bariatrics, orthopedic and other surgical programs. The hospital has also made significant investments in robotic surgery systems and other state-of-the-art technology, as well as upgrades to the hospital facility.
