Southwestern Diagnostic Imaging (SDI) Chooses eUnity(TM)

Client Outlook's Universal Image Viewer Helps Phoenix-Based Radiology Leader Quickly and Cost-Effectively Enable Clinical Access to Diagnostic Quality Images

WATERLOO, ON--(Marketwired - March 16, 2016) -  Client Outlook Inc., a leading provider of FDA Class II diagnostic and clinical image viewing solutions, announced today that a division of Southwest Diagnostic Imaging, one of the United States' top private radiology clinics, has successfully deployed its universal image viewer, eUnity™, providing SDI's 120+ board certified radiologists with subspecialties in neuroradiology, nuclear radiology, pediatric radiology, vascular and interventional radiology, as well as SDI's referring physicians with simple, fast and effective access to diagnostic quality images. As a key component of SDI's enterprise image viewing strategy, eUnity tightly integrates with SDI's Mach7 vendor neutral archive (VNA).

SDI had a specific goal in selecting a universal image viewer to provide fast, easy access to diagnostic quality images, explains Dr. Rodney Owen, Co-Executive Vice President, Southwest Diagnostic Imaging. "Healthcare is in transition, and there is significant consolidation taking place as organizations merge their interests. At the same time, organizations are also embracing the concept of a vendor neutral archive (VNA), large data imaging repositories where images from multiple PACS can be received and stored. Layering the eUnity on top of the Mach7 VNA gives us a universal viewer, plus a rapidly deployable image repository, providing our entire community with a way to view images as quickly as possible.

"In the past, we have been challenged to provide universal access to our referring physicians due to browser compatibility issues," elaborates Travis Haskins, CIO, Southwest Diagnostic Imaging. "With eUnity, all that complexity goes away and access to diagnostic quality images becomes very easy for our entire network of referring physicians."

Haskins goes on to further explain that SDI was further challenged in the past by the proprietary nature of PACS systems, which can limit the control healthcare enterprises can exert over their imaging informatics assets. "When all images are residing in one PACS, you are very limited in your ability to migrate from one technology to another. For instance, within our Mach7 VNA, we have more than 200 terabytes of imaging data. It would literally take us two years to migrate that data to another system. eUnity's universal image viewer removes that barrier completely. It has the ability to overlay any PACS, regardless of the underlying data store, so image viewing is always possible."

In addition to eUnity's speed, ease of deployment and cost, SDI has been incredibly impressed by the close partnership it has formed with the Client Outlook team. "It is quite refreshing to work with a vendor that truly listens and rapidly responds to your needs. Client Outlook has been aces to deal with, and the team has been right on top of any challenge we brought forward," says Haskins.

"Client Outlook brought to the project a great team of people, terrific engineers and a very high value proposition. Contracting was straightforward and easy. And most importantly, they delivered on their promise," says Dr. Owen.

"We are very fortunate to be able to work in close collaboration with healthcare clients such as SDI to create the world's best, fastest and smartest universal image viewer," says Brenda Rankin, Executive Vice President, Client Outlook. "It is a true partnership in every regard."
