WildWorks Announces Landmark Partnership With Polar Bear International; Donates $10,000 to Polar Bear Conservation

The Online Game and Social Network for Kids Teaches Players About the Importance of Species and Habitat Conservation

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwired - Feb 25, 2016) - WildWorks, developer of Animal Jam, the number one web-based game and social network for kids in the U.S., today announced its partnership with Polar Bear International, a nonprofit organization whose sole passion and focus is on the conservation of polar bears and the sea ice upon which they depend.

During the months of February and March, Animal Jam is featuring polar bears in-game, including photos, videos, and facts from Polar Bear International. Players will also be exposed to real scientists who work in the field and given fun activities to collaboratively engage in to help spread awareness of the initiative.

Additionally, players have the opportunity to donate their in-game Gems towards Polar Bear International in the Conservation Museum in the game. Animal Jam will in turn donate $10,000 on behalf of the players directly towards polar bear conservation.

The goal of the program is to teach Animal Jam's players about the importance of species conservation alongside habitat conservation and how the two themes are intertwined. Many of their players are tween girls interested in STEM and this program gives many their first opportunity to be directly involved in conservation efforts.

"According to Girl Scout Research Institute, STEM-interested girls more often have philanthropic motivations such as helping people and making a difference in the world," said Clark Stacey, CEO of WildWorks. "This partnership with Polar Bear International really fits our overall vision -- we're able to teach our players about the importance of real world species and habitat conservation and engage our players to contribute in a fun and unique way."

"Our partnership with Animal Jam is a wonderful way to reach young people and involve them in polar bear conservation," said Krista Wright, Executive Director of Polar Bear International. "It's especially significant that they're announcing the partnership just ahead of International Polar Bear Day, a global event that draws attention to the challenges polar bears face in a warming Arctic and how we each can help."
